By planning to conduct mass arrests on families, the Trump administration is proving that its cruelty knows no bounds and that it is hell-bent on disrupting the lives of immigrants, both in the interior and on the border. Equally concerning is that every action the Trump administration takes to target immigrants is used as a justification to further expand the U.S. detention and deportation apparatus. It is unconscionable that taxpayer money — our hard-earned dollars — funds this system rife with abuse that only serves to tear families and communities apart. No child, no parent, no person should ever have to endure this kind of fear and suffering solely because of their immigration status. We must defund and stop the growth of this inhumane system.
