The Department of Justice and Department of Homeland Security issued today a new rule that undermines the country’s asylum laws, which are protected under domestic and international law, and would put thousands of lives at risk.

By broadening his authority to deny people the right to claim asylum between ports of entry, President Trump has made it clear he is hell-bent on destroying all protections for migrants who are simply seeking refuge in the United States.

Like all of the Trump administration’s policies, the move to restrict asylum is based on fear, not fact.

We cannot allow this President to violate our international commitment and international law in order to carry out his well-documented anti-immigrant and white supremacist agenda.
