Toria Somerville
Operations and Development Coordinator | She/her
Toria believes in fighting with communities who are marginalized and oppressed by the greedy, for-profit U.S Immigration detention system, which is the largest in the world, and seeks to raise awareness of these injustices and the trauma it inflicts on immigrants.
At Freedom for Immigrants, she coordinates with the team to provide administrative and operations support and maintain donor stewardship. She has five years of experience working with not-for-profit organizations in various roles at Jewish Family Services, The American Himalayan Foundation, as an Urban Agriculture Fellow in Richmond, VA, and as a shelter volunteer working with women and children impacted by domestic violence.
Her work is informed by childhood experiences growing up in Alabama and spending formative years living in the U.K. She has a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies with concentrations in music, English, and education.
