The Rev. John Guttermann Legacy Award

After a valiant fight with brain cancer, Rev. John Guttermann passed away in December 2016. In honor of his legacy, Freedom for Immigrants (formerly CIVIC) created The Rev. John Guttermann Legacy Award, an annual award with a cash prize. Freedom for Immigrants presented the 2017 Rev. John Guttermann Legacy Award to Conversations With Friends, the visitation program in Minnesota that John founded. In addition, we presented John’s family with a Certificate of Congressional Recognition signed by Congresswoman Judy Chu (D-CA) to honor his truly distinguished and exemplary life.
